You can designate a donation or portion of your estate to the Friends of Appleton Public Library and, in some cases, receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes.

Use this language in your estate plan:

I hereby direct $____________ (or) _____ percent of my residual estate in cash, securities, or other property to Friends of Appleton Public Library, 225 N. Oneida Street, Appleton, WI 54911 (Fed. ID# 39-1550376).

Name the Friends of Appleton Public Library as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, such as IRA, Keogh, 401(k) and 403(b). These assets are the most heavily taxed. Transferring assets to a tax-exempt organization such as the Friends of APL may reduce your tax liability.

Making a gift directly from your IRA toward your annual required minimum distribution. The annual limit is $100,000 per taxpayer. Friends of APL is a qualified charity. Our federal tax identification number is 39-1550376.

Name the Friends of Appleton Public Library as the sole or partial beneficiary of your life insurance plan. There are a number of different ways you can gift a life insurance policy. You can irrevocably name The Friends of APL as the owner of an existing policy, deduct a calculated value of the policy as a charitable gift or choose to name The Friends or APL as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy that you continue to own. Charitable gifts made to The Friends of APL to pay any future premiums are eligible for a tax deduction in the year the gifts are made. Please consult your financial advisor on the tax benefits of a gift of life insurance.

You can make a donation of cash or property to the Friends of Appleton Public Library now, get immediate tax benefits and ensure that you or a loved one receive fixed quarterly or annual income payments for life.
