Friends of APL Endowments

Friends of Appleton Public Library holds and manages six distinct endowments as a permanent source of funding for Appleton Public Library. What is an endowment?

An endowment is a gift of money or other donated property (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.) invested to financially sustain the mission of the library long into the future. A permanent endowment fund is intended to last forever. Think of an endowment as an investment in the lives of those to come, a promise without end, made by today’s donors to the future.

The gifts you contribute to an endowment are referred to as the “principal” or “corpus”. These gifts  remain intact and are invested so that the endowment will continue to grow. Each year, an annual distribution is made available to the Friends to be used for the fund purpose. Anyone can add to an existing endowment at any time and in any amount.

Members of our community have generously donated funds to create agency endowments as a permanent source of funding for Appleton Public Library. In turn Friends has partnered with the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region to create the endowments.  CFFVR provides a prudent investment vehicle for these generous gifts, which ensures that our cherished library will have much needed resources for the future.

Below are the endowments held by the Friends. You can designate your gift to an endowment at the time of your donation.
